For the University Rover Challenge (URC) 2025, the UIU Mars Rover Team (UMRT) has developed an innovative new rover, AXIOS. Built with cutting-edge technology, AXIOS features advanced AI-driven navigation, a more efficient robotic arm, and enhanced scientific analysis capabilities. The rover is designed to tackle the most challenging terrains and complex missions, including autonomous exploration, sample collection, and equipment servicing. AXIOS represents a significant leap forward for UMRT, combining years of experience with new innovations to push the boundaries of Mars exploration. 🚀

🏆 Globally 5th in URC 2024

In the University Rover Challenge (URC) 2024, the UIU Mars Rover Team (UMRT) from United International University (UIU) achieved remarkable success. They secured 1st place among Asian teams for the third consecutive year and finished 5th overall out of 36 finalist teams from 10 countries, including the USA, Poland, India, Bangladesh, Australia, Canada, Colombia, Egypt, Mexico, and Turkey. Their rover, TELOS, demonstrated exceptional performance across all four missions: science exploration, autonomous navigation, extreme terrain traversal, and equipment servicing. This achievement underscores UMRT's dedication and technical prowess in planetary exploration.

YGGDRASIL

Yggdrasil is a cutting-edge autonomous robotic system developed by the UIU Mars Rover Team (UMRT) for Mars exploration. Named after the mythological tree of life, Yggdrasil features advanced AI-driven navigation, vision systems, and robotic manipulation. The rover was designed to tackle extreme terrains, conduct scientific research, and perform complex tasks such as sample collection and equipment servicing. With its innovative design and robust capabilities, Yggdrasil represents a significant leap forward in the team's Mars exploration efforts, showcasing their commitment to advancing planetary robotics. 🚀

In 2023, the UIU Mars Rover Team (UMRT) officially merged with the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR) at United International University (UIU). This strategic collaboration strengthened UMRT's capabilities by providing access to advanced AI, robotics research, and state-of-the-art facilities. The merger allowed the team to leverage CAIR's expertise in autonomous systems, machine learning, and robotics to enhance the design, development, and performance of their rovers. With this partnership, UMRT gained significant momentum, resulting in even greater achievements in international competitions like the University Rover Challenge (URC). 🚀

🥉 Globally 3rd in ARC 2023

In the Anatolian Rover Challenge (ARC) 2023, the UIU Mars Rover Team (UMRT) from United International University (UIU) achieved an impressive result, securing 3rd place overall out of 38 teams from 15 countries. This achievement highlights the team's continuous growth and technical excellence in the field of planetary exploration. Their rover, TELOS, demonstrated exceptional performance in key missions, including autonomous navigation, scientific exploration, and extreme terrain traversal. UMRT's success in ARC 2024 further solidifies their reputation as one of the top competitors in international rover challenges. 🚀

🏆 Globally 9th in URC 2023

In the University Rover Challenge (URC) 2023, the UIU Mars Rover Team (UMRT) from United International University (UIU) achieved significant success. They secured 1st place among Asian teams and 9th place overall out of 37 finalists from 10 countries, including the USA, Poland, India, Bangladesh, Australia, Canada, Colombia, Egypt, Mexico, and Turkey. Their rover, TELOS, demonstrated exceptional performance across all four missions: science exploration, autonomous navigation, extreme terrain traversal, and equipment servicing. This achievement marked the second consecutive year that UMRT ranked first among Asian teams, showcasing their dedication and technical prowess in the field of robotics and planetary exploration.

TELOS

TELOS is the Mars rover developed by the UIU Mars Rover Team (UMRT) for the University Rover Challenge (URC) 2023. Building on the success of its predecessor, MAVEN, TELOS featured significant advancements in autonomous navigation, robotic manipulation, terrain traversal, and scientific exploration. It was designed with an AI-powered vision system, an improved robotic arm for precision tasks, and enhanced mobility for extreme terrains. TELOS showcased UIU's growing expertise in planetary robotics, demonstrating exceptional performance in URC 2023 and reinforcing the team's reputation as a leading competitor in international rover challenges. 🚀

The UIU Mars Rover Team from United International University (UIU) achieved an outstanding result, securing 1st place in Asia and 13th place globally. Their rover, MAVEN, excelled in autonomous navigation, science exploration, and equipment servicing, demonstrating exceptional engineering and AI capabilities. This achievement solidified UIU's position as a leading force in robotics and planetary exploration on the global stage. 🚀

MAVEN

MAVEN is the Mars rover developed by the UIU Mars Rover Team for the University Rover Challenge (URC) 2022. Designed for extreme terrains, MAVEN features autonomous navigation, a robotic arm for equipment servicing, and a scientific module for soil analysis. It excelled in the Science Exploration, Autonomous Navigation, and Equipment Servicing missions, securing 1st place in Asia and 13th globally. With robust engineering and AI-driven perception, MAVEN showcased UIU's innovation in planetary exploration, proving its capability in real-world Mars-like conditions. 🚀

The UIU Mars Rover Team (UMRT) project was launched as a student-driven initiative at United International University (UIU) to compete in the University Rover Challenge (URC) and other international robotics competitions. It began with a group of passionate engineering and robotics enthusiasts working under the guidance of faculty members from UIU's Engineering and CSE departments. Through continuous innovation in mechanical design, AI-based vision, autonomous navigation, and robotic arms, the team rapidly gained recognition. United International University started to fund the UIU Mars Rover Team for further Developement.
